‘Everything ends is’ one of those tracks the forces you to stop what you’re doing and be. This clip is a full circle moment. We have Alessandro Cortini @alehan and Don Buchla performing “Everything ends here” at SF electronic music festival in 2010.
The first synthesizer w
as created by Thaddeus Cahill (Telharmonium). Many others followed. Herbert Deutsch and Moog created the first voltage-controlled synthesizer (Moog called it a synthesizer). Buchla invented the idea of modular voltage-controlled synths. His Synths would go on the inspire many including Alessandro Cortini. I imagine it had to be pretty special moment to play along side the person that inspired you. Synths like the Buchla would go on to be know as “West Coast Synth” compared to their counterparts, the Moog, which was created on the East Coast in Asheville. ‘ Everything ends here’ is a track off Blindoldfreak’s EP title: 1. Blindfoldfreak is an alias that Alessandro Cortini went by. Cortini uses primarily the Buchla 200e when recording as Blindoldfreak, distinguishing it from his other solo work under the alias SONOIO and under his given name.
It’s tracks like this which I believe can open people up to discovering more about themselves. But people have to be open and ready to learn more about themselves, but maybe something like this can be a trigger. Maybe someone plays this and asks why does this sound make them feel a certain way… and that’s the beginning. Everyone’s ear is different to some people this may sound like crap, but to others, like me, it’s a work of art. It’s amazing the impact a 4 note progression can have.
If you find people who say electronic music has no soul or emotion. That the sounds that come from these machines are cold….show them this. I’d be shocked if they weren’t moved.
